The purpose of this project is to investigate the dyes which come
from Western Australian plants on natural fibres such as silk, wool,
and cotton. With the direct use of the earth and its minerals which
also have a dye content I aim to create a beautiful portfolio of
artworks for an exhibition. The works will express the mystery and
power on the earth in a colourful and sculptural way. The exhibition
will primarily focus on my developmental and contemporary work.
In addition a collaborative
work will be developed combining the contributions of ~100 West
Australians who share the same objectives whilst coming from
different geographical areas, nationalities, religions, ages, and
circumstances. Through the art process, many obstacles between
people can be overcome and connections made. Through this website
and the exhibition the audiences can share the same process.
This process will be
documented in order to provide a database of the colours achieve
through the creative process.
