Fineart

Trudi:
Trudi’s fine art work is reflected in a primitive and earthy style
which is heavily influenced by nature and its wonderment. Trudi has
been exhibiting for more than 20 years and has always maintained
herself as an artist who loves textiles. Her conceptual work is
strong and her love for community inclusion is born out in her
latest exhibition – the Earth Treasure Project to be opened at the
Fremantle Art Centre on October 28th of this year.
Trudi’s ability to work in the finest detail using the most
primitive of methods is outstanding and admirable. Her hand
stitching details using hand dyed threads and her combination of
different methods are exquisite.
The Earth Treasure
project includes contributions from over 100 participant who have
taken part in burying and dyeing natural fabrics in their local
soils from Tom Price to Esperance in Western Australia. The story
of her works is important to Trudi and she delights in sharing her
experiences and knowledge with people. Her solo work is individual
and solitary, much like the environment in which she lives.
Helena:
Helena’s work speaks of conceptual ideas that bring the physical
together with the spiritual. Her fine art work is generally simple
and large with the concept being abstract within the work
presented. Helena likes to manipulate her fabrics so that they have
a worn and weathered look. This ultimately allows her work to be
aesthetically exciting as her appreciation of beautiful things is
just as important as the messages she creates. In fact the concept
needs to be explained only if one requires it. The pieces stand
alone without the explanation because of their depth of texture and
technique. |
